Frequently asked questions
Does the app roll the dice for me?
No. Yamb Notes is a score card, not a game. You roll your own dice; the app keeps score and does the sums.
Does the app check whether I am allowed to enter that number?
No, deliberately. You can enter anything, exactly as on paper — the responsibility is the players’. The app does not judge, it only adds up.
How do I turn on the K (counter-announce) column?
Settings → turn counter-announce on. The fifth column appears immediately, on the right. It is off by default because many groups do not play it.
Can I change the bonuses and thresholds?
Yes. In Settings you can set the threshold and value of the upper-section bonus, enable the middle-section (Max−Min) bonus, and set the values for three of a kind, the straight and the other categories — every group plays slightly differently.
Why does the straight show a different number than the one I typed?
For the straight you may type its final value (45, say) and the app shows it as typed. The other categories expect the dice sum and add the bonus themselves.
Do I lose saved games when the app updates?
No. Saved games stay on the device and keep their numbers across updates. They go away only if you delete the game or the app.
I moved to a new phone. Do my games come with me?
Only if you also moved the app data through your operating-system backup (iCloud or Google backup). We have no server, so there is no cloud for us to restore them from — that is the price of collecting nothing.
Does it work without internet?
Completely offline. You do not need a connection even the first time, apart from the purchase in the app store itself.
Are there ads or a subscription?
Neither, and there never will be. You pay once and that is all.
We are five people — can we all play?
The sheet tracks up to four players. The fifth column (K) is counter-announce, not a fifth player.
My language reads oddly.
Croatian and English were written by a person; the other 19 languages are machine-translated and labelled as such in the language picker. If you spot bad wording in your language, send us a correction — we will gladly use it.
